It has been a pleasure to work with you this semester. I hope that you will reflect upon Biology with many good memories from the projects and adventures (such as identifying bird nests) as I will. For those of you who will be leaving...it has been a priviledge to be your teacher. You have my warmest regards as you fly from my nest to pursue your dreams.  For students who will be returning to OHS next year....I look forward to seeing you next year in the halls or perhaps, as your teacher in the future.

I will miss you all. You have made this year at Osborne very special...thank you for all your hard work, wonderful smiles. great humor and most of all, thank you for being you.

May learning always be in your hearts as much as it is in your mind.

SB4: Ecology- Impact on the Environment

Getting down to the wire folks! You have 2 objectives for today and tomorrow.

1) Find your research information for your special project and save it to "H" drive. Print hard copy. Download the possible Final Exam Questions for your project and be prepared to for 3-5 questions to show up as short essays after your online computer exam.

Download Biology Student Project questions

2) Human Impact on the environment: From the video clips of the Lorax, An inconvenient truth and from the movie media file I put together, you are going to create a 1 minute movie depicting "human impact on the environment. Make sure you save all pictures to your "H" drive before you import to Movie Media.

Scenario: You are a film producer who has been asked by an environmental lobbying organization to create a one minute adnvertisment for their cause. They will pay you $100,000 for the 1 minute film. SB2: Genetics: Growth and Hereditary-Organisms must be able to grow and reproduce to ensure species survival.

Hi everyone,

Today and Friday we will be taking an introductory tour of Genetics. Recall from our unit on Cells, that all oragnelles have different functions. In the Genetics tutorial, you will learn about how our genetic information (DNA) in the nucleus is copied by a message maker called RNA (transcription). RNA leaves the nucleus and goes to the Ribosomes to make the correct amino acid (translation) and make proteins.  Finally, the amino acids are taken to the Golgi and carbohydrate, lipids and nucleic acids are attached to proteins and then and sent to the rest of the body.

Also, you will learn about heredity, that is, how DNA traits are passed down from a parent to the next generation (offspring). Finally, you will predict the outcomes of genetic crosses and examine what kind of outcomes or a type of genetic disorder may arise from DNA not being read correctly. Changes in the DNA are called mutation (wrong code).

Okay...let's get started!  Have a great time exploring...If you need a second copy of the Intro to Genetics study guide....here it is.

Download Genetics Introduction

Download and you can work inside the document. Make sure you save frequently.
