Alrighty everybody!

Today is the last day to take the Genetics Test. Many of you have scored the 85 or above that is required. Please retake the test if you have not met the cut-off point.

Instruction:

Thank you for signing up for your last project assessmen over the GPS standard on Ecology (SB4)- I am excited about seeing the results of your hard work. Today, you will be researching www.about.com; www.ask.com, www.howstuffworks.com, and beginning to pool research for your topic. Please save all information to your "H" drive. See Ms. Aughey if you need a second copy.

 Happy Thursday!

Instruction:

1) Today you will be taking the SB2: Genetics Test on www.mygradebook.com. Please make sure you complete the first test for a baseline grade.

2) When you are finished. Please view the following video on DNA Fingerpirnting. Choose one of these segments to watch.  Due Wednesday November 18. Write a 6-10 sentence summary about three things that you learned about DNA Fingerprinting.

3) SB5:  Evolution-Finally, Please go to this website and check your answers on Charles Darwin (The Father of Evolution Theory).  He did not "discover" evolution but examined and combined  the records from scientific research on genetics by Mendels, observed nature from his travels and confirmed Lydell and Huttons work on Geological Time scale of the Earth soil layers around the world. Due Friday November 14th.

Hi!
I hope everyone had great weekend. I look forward to reading all the genetic research papers. I am proud of you all. There was 95% participation in 2nd block, 90% in 3rd block and 81% turn rate in 4th block. You all have consistently shown me that you are responsible individuals and a "with-it" crew. I have enjoyed working with you this semester. Keep up the fantastic work. One month left...finish strong!

Thursday: Blending Natural Selection with what we know today-moving from past to present and how species in a population can be affected by evolution. The Galopogas Islands.
Friday: End Evolution and start Classification/Ecology (these units will run at the same time)

P.S: Here is the picture for the Genetics test. The black/white cat was Elby and the striped cat is Athena. Question: Based on the picture what kind of dominance is expressed in each cat's phenotype?

Hello my fellow Biology students!

We are winding down Genetics. Mygradebook.com Genetics Test will go live tonight at 7:00 pm. You may retake the test up to 4 times. Closing date is 11/18.  Study references are allowed such as Genetics powerpoint, A race through chapter 11 powerpoint, Introduction to Genetics Internet research, and Punnett Square Practice worksheet. There may be links for you to go off site to visit a different website from Mygradebook.com. I will have two short answer questions regarding your individual research on genetic disorders.

Here's two more good practice resources for Population Genetics- Both are challenging due to being AP or College Biology level. Give it a try!
