Hello Bio students,
SB1: Students will analyze the structure and functions in living things.
ScSh1-6: Habits of the Mind and the Nature of Science
Opening: Today we are summing up the past two weeks:
SWBAT:
1) Recognize and abide by good laboratory safety practices
2) Demostrate the correct order and procedures of the Scientific Method
3) Dicuss the characteristics of living things
4) Name the four macromolecules, explain their functions, identify the molecular structure of the macromolecules, and list some foods that contain the macromolecules
5) Explain how enzymes act as biological catalysts
6) Identify the parts of a microscope
7) Explain how Diffusion and Osmosis allow chemicals to cross a cell membrane (passive and active transport)
8) Explain why viruses are considered "not living"
9) Explain why homeostasis is important to our body.
Work Session:
Today you will:
1) Investigate difussion, osmosis, the role of enzymes and learn about how our body maintains a constant environment called homeostasis.
-Watch the animations:
2) Begin to write/type up lab report for macromolecules
Work Session:
Go to these websites then complete the self test email me your results.

Advanced Topics: [you can do at your own computer)

Thursday and Friday (work sessions) :
2) We will discuss your home interview in small groups (Thursday) Complete writing sample.
3) Work on your macromolecules lab. Here is the report format. (Thursday an Friday) We start Cells on Monday!!! Download LabReportTemplate[1]
4) Unit test on Friday- over 1-9.
Closing: Summarize your results, discussion and conclusion for the Yeast Lab...Your home interview will be about the yeast lab. (or macromoleucles, if you were absent for the yeast lab)
