AP English Language and Composition/Honors Brit Lit Nov. 16-20

Pre- Capstone: Our Capstone will be an extended synthesis essay based on a topic you are studying in other AP courses or a topic of your choice of interest.

You will be assigned The Norton Reader today. Before the December Hoilday break we need the following done:

• Select two non-fiction pieces from The Norton Reader related to your Capstone project

• Find a website (with multiple pages) related to your Capstone Project

• A book (from library or purchased) related to your Capstone Project. The first chapter should be read before the break.

• Find a magazine article related to your capstone project.

You will choose groups of 4 to 6 people. On the date next to the name of your assigned chapter,

You will perform a 1 to 3 minute skit/performance based on your reading of the chapter. You should have the following for your presentation:

1. Costumes

2. Props

3. Music/Background enhancements (use of SMARTBOARD is encouraged)

4. No scripts in your hand as you perform

5. You are ready to perform on your assigned date/time order

The Iliad dramatizes a crucial episode in the long, epic struggle between the Achaeans and the Trojans. AP English Language/Honor Brit Lit Week of Sept. 14-18

Today in class the scholarship essay is due....there is a deadline.... Just like a real scholarship, the essay is due today.

If you are doing the Gates Millenium Scholarship, then pick a prompt. Type out the response using Microsoft Word. Write the prompt above the response. The word limit is 400 words.

If you are doing the other two scholarships, follow the instructions. The word limit is 200 words for the GPA Isn't Everything scholarship. The word limit is 100 for the Climate Change essay and another 100 words for honors and achivements.

There is a test on "A Lesson Before Dying" on www.mygradebook.com. It is due by Wednesday.

Tuesday through Friday- We will begin the Greek Epic "The Iliad". To begin with you must learn the story of "Iphigenia at Aulis". There are three ways for the assignments on www.mygradebook.com.

Friday-I hope to return to the computer lab so we can respond to each other's AP Synthesis Essay.
