In Case You Missed It

Real Chance of Love

The Stallionaires are back in the saddle on VH1. Your favorite long haired beauty and hot head are back to find true love. “Real Chance of Love” is a reality show based on Ahmad Givens aka “Real” and Kamal Givens aka “Chance” from “I Love New York” and “I Love Money.” Despite the disappointing outcome of their first season, the Stallionaires refuse to give up on love. Yes, they are putting their hearts back out there by moving 20 girls into their Ranch-Style Mansion.  
            Each episode the girls are each presented with a challenge. Based on the challenges and connections, Real and Chance decide which girl is to be eliminated and which girls remain for the following episode. Will they find love by the time the last two girls are standing or will we be faced with a Real Chance of Love 3? Stick here on “In Case You Missed It,” with me, to find out.

 

Episode One “Back in the saddle bros”: 20 girls move into the mansion and instantly start getting comfortable. Soon after, each girl is assigned nicknames. Some friends are made and some enemies are formed. During the mixer, “Ribbon” begins to scare the guys and comes off a little too strong. Ribbon seems as if she is stalking Chance. Once she realizes that she is not getting the results she wants from Chance she moves to Real and fails as well after desperate attempts to get his attention. “Show me” and “Vegas” get into a physical fight and are immediately sent home after which Real and Chance stress that this season they are not tolerating drama.  The guys announce that there will not be separate chains given out at eliminations like on last season. Realizing that they have double competition, altercations are formed therefore causing Real and Chance to make some shocking decisions. At the end of the episode, four girls are eliminated and only 16 are left remaining.

Episode 2 “Love is in the Stallionaire”:  With 16 girls left, Real and Chance still have no clue who is there for them and who isn’t. The girls are faced with a challenge to go door to door selling their best qualities. Some girls are more prepared than the others. The girls with the best outcomes win dates with the lovely Stallionaires.

Episode Three “Girls gone viral”: was the most hilarious by far. This episode’s challenge was to audition for Real and Chance’s music video. Rapper Gloria Velez decided which group of girls won the dates with Real and Chance. “Apple,” the shy girl, did not step up her game. In addition, drama stirs up between “Blonde Baller” and the other girls in the house because they suspect that the guy she talked to on the phone was her boyfriend. The girls gang up on Blonde Baller, especially “PS” and “Junk.” By the end of the episode, Real and Chance decide to choose which girls they want by giving out separate chains at elimination. Real ends up with “Pocahontas,” “PS,” “Doll,” “Classy,” “Sassy,” and “Baker”, leaving Chance with “Spanish Fly,” “Hot Wings,” “Flirty,” “Junk,” “Mamacita,” “Blonde Baller,” and “Apple.”

Episode Four “Yeti Set Go”: This episode begins with Blonde Baller on the phone and discovers that her “male friend” was shot and killed in Michigan. Consequently, she does not shed any tears. The girls were put up to a very weird challenge; they were split into teams and sent off to find a Yeti (the big foot). The first team to find and capture the yeti would win dates with the guys. Baker, PS, Blonde Baller, Doll, and Junk captured the big foot first. Once the big foot was captured, the girls saw that it was Micha (Real and Chance’s younger brother) dressed in the costume. On the date, PS and Junk ganged up on Blonde Baller. Surprisingly, PS went to further to imitate and talk about Sassy behind her back. The next morning Apple decides to prepare a sexy breakfast for Real. Unfortunate for her, the breakfast was not enough to keep her in the mansion after elimination. While Real got rid of one girl, Chance eliminated none until her figured out the truth about Blonde Baller
            Episode Five “”: The remaining 14 girls have to compete in a wrestling match in order to win a date with the guys. They were placed into three different groups: Hot Wings, PS, Baker, and Doll for group number one. The second group was Pocahontas, Sassy, Mamacita, and Flirty. The final group was Lady, Junk, Blonde Baller, Classy, and Spanish Fly. Hot wings was sure she was going to win her date with Chance. Unfortunately, Pocahontas, Mamacita, Spanish Fly, and Flirty won the date. Sassy and Mamacita went on the first date. Although Real and Sassy had a great date, Their date was cut short because of Chance. He drank too much alcohol and ended up throwing up over the balcony. The four returned to the mansion to find Hot Wings with her bags packed and ready to go. The following day, the guys took the other two girls on their dates to the “Chelsea Lately Show.” In the end, Hot Wings decided to stay and Junk was sent home due to her still focusing on Blonde Baller and not Chance. Two girls leave the mansion after elimination.

What is in this season?

Each season has its own type of fashion. Summer has come to an end; fall is right around the corner. This season is the best time that we can display out styles. The only question left is: What is acceptable to wear and what is not? Ladies and gentlemen take my advice when I say the following: If you see something you own on the “NOT” list; take a moment to throw it out, NOW.

After interviewing numerous students on OsborneHigh School’s campus about their opinions on fall fashion, two categories were made. One category was named “HOT” (In this season) and the other “NOT” (Out this season). According to a survey by Osborne’s students, the results are listed below.

                Guys, the perfect outfit this season consist of skinny jeans, NIKE blazers, and an American Eagle graphic tee topped of with a few jewelry pieces. A pair of Cargos would go great with a plaid shirt, graphic tee, or even a simple V-Neck t-shirt.

            Ladies, a casual dress with pockets and matching gladiator sandals would keep compliments coming your way left and right. Like the attention? Then try skinny jeans with a long plaid shirt with wedge heels. Don’t even stop to think that only guys can wear the cargos; ladies CAN ALSO WEAR CARGOS. A pair of vans and a simple graphic tee would be just a lovely. Those outfits are HOT this season.

The Retirement of Tedy Bruschi

       A perfect player is settling down for retirement with the New England Patriots. According to Sports illustrated, Tedy Bruschi has announced his retirement from New England Patriots. Bruschi spent his entire career in New England. At the age of 36 he returned from a mild stroke. In 2005 he played for 8 months. His time on the field declined last season and was playing with a second defense team unit. He has never played for any other football team. His one and only unachieved goal was to win a fourth championship.

       Bruschi was at a news conference when he said, “your body doesn’t heal as quickly”. He missed training from camp and one exhibition game because of undisclosed injury. During the season he had a lot of health problems. At Massachusetts General Hospital 4 ½ years ago, Bruschi walked out unsteady when he had been admitted two days early on February 16, 2005. He had felt numbness in his left arm and left leg and had blurry vision, when he was diagnosis with a mild stroke. The stroke was caused by a whole in his heart, how ever he made a recover and came back just in time for the seventh game of the season.

       Bruschi had made 10 tackles against the buffalo Bills. He led the team with a victory for the first time in 2006 despite his surgery. He was also the Patriots leading tackler again in 2007.

       Over the course of 2008 Bruschi performance had declined. The rookie Jerod Mayo has emerged as the leader in the middle of defense. Mayo had stated that Bruschi, “took me under his wings when I first came here and told me one day he would pass the torch on to me and the rest of the team.” Kevin Faulk, the running back joined the team as the longest-tenured Patriot. When Faulk talks about Tedy Bruschi, he always states “leadership and inspiration.”

The Hassle on Parking Decals

       The head of parking decals for OHS, Kara Pringle, says according to Cobb County Policy each student that parks on a Cobb County School campus must have a parking decal. Pringle comments on this rule, stating “there really is no purpose for students to have them.” She says that she sends the money collected from the purchasing of the parking decals, to the County and they use that money to add parking lots and lanes to school campuses across the county.

       Despite this silly rule, the required materials include: a Cobb County application and valid GA driver’s licenses.

       Students that have a permit will be unable to get a parking decal. If she finds out that you are parking on school premises she “will call the campus police officer.” Consequently don’t drive to school or parents will be called to come get the vehicle ASAP. In some cases, a vehicle may be towed.

       Students that attend OHS can get information during and after school from Pringle outside her office door. You can also find the application form on the Cobb County Home Page as well as in the front office.

        Another rule that applies to the OHS parking decals is the expiration rule. This rule ends after each semester. You will have to pay $50 again for the second semester. So have your money on time or you will be riding the yellow bus.

      Parking decals do have rules that you need to follow. You can not share it at all. If you’re caught sharing you’re decal you will lose your decal. Decals must be attached to the window they can not be taped. This means that the sticker must be applied to your window. For students that have two cars, you must purchase another decal at $5. Throughout Aug. and Nov. the price will go down $5 each month. Next semester the price will go back to $50.

      There are four ways you can lose your decal. You can lose it by having too many tardies, absences from school, sharing decals and speeding on the school campus. So think before you do something that will cause you to lose your decal. Be reasonable.

Students that attend OHS can get information during and after school from Pringle outside her office door. You can also find the application form on the Cobb County Home Page as well as in the front office. Additionally, for the first week of school students are allowed to park on campus for 8 days. After the 8^th day you must purchase a parking decal.

NEW TEACHERS OF OHS!!!

An chat with Senorita Figueroa

       Have you ever wondered about the new teachers of OHS? As student’s we expect to receive different teaching methods that helps different students to learn. Students expect their teachers’ to give them new study techniques and teach them how to apply these techniques. This is what we look for as students. This is what we expect.

       In a recent interview with the new OHS Spanish teacher Senorita Figueroa, who joined staff Aug. 4, 2009, this issue was addressed. Many of you have probably seen her on campus. She has been substituting all over Cobb County for quite some time now. She now is a teacher of Spanish her at OHS. Her room is located on the Spanish all in Room 112.

       She came to the United States a few years ago for a new start. Senorita Figueroa was born and raised in Honduras, she taught there for 15 years.  The Honduran native says she has had a passion for teaching since High School. She said her parents inspired her to teach as a child. Now, after years of substituting her dream of teaching as a successful Spanish teacher has come true.

       To become a teacher you have to go to school for many years. It takes extensive training, patience and a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching in your field. Figueroa, not only has these, but is a nice individual. She has helped many children, like me, become better at speaking Spanish through her kind disposition.

      Many other students and I, who are taking Spanish II are looking forward to learning her new Spanish curriculum and the pleasant atmosphere she establishes.

Fashion is Progressing into the Future

It’s not about the label

       Today’s girls’ fashion is progressing from half-jackets, flared jeans, jordans and non-natural colored hair (such as red, blue, purple, pink, bright yellow, etc.) to skinny jeans, polo shirts, heels, plaid shirts, Gladiator (roman style sandals) and plastic accessories. In the past, snow boots and apple bottom jeans were popular. Now, everyone wants to wear cowboy boots and skinny jeans of all colors. Before, the designer handbag was not really a big deal, but today everyone wants a Gucci, Fendi, Prada or Coach.

      The modern teenage girl had gone from a laid back style to want to look more sophisticated. With these new fashion trends, everyone seems to look alike; no one seems to have their own style anymore. Everyone is busy trying to follow all of the trends: short haircuts, highlights, skinny jeans with heel a plaid shirt, jewelry and a high waist belts. We have gone from girls who just wanted to look cute to girls who want the most expensive labels. We have gone from hating Barbie to being like Barbie. The reality is that most people would rather have the most expensive labels when you could go to Ross and find the same outfit for less. Saving money is in, but the days of half-jackets, flared jeans with crocs are out.

      Girls you do not have to buy the expensive labels just to look nice. Places like Rave, Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe are affordable and sport today’s fashion. You do not have to imitate other people just to look cute. You can walk into a place like Forever 21 and buy the things that you like, not what everyone else expects you to wear. It is important to be your own person, your style shows your character. When you try to imitate everyone else it shows that you are a follower not a leader. Yet, while today’s fashion is imitated from celebrities and we all look the same, the way you put your outfit together makes you look unique. So, it is not about what everyone else is wearing or what everyone else is buying, or even what label you have, it is about throwing the right things together to make your outfit complete and to make it fit you, not everyone else. 

       Remember to always have your own individuality and it does not matter what people say about your outfit as long as you are comfortable in it. Expensive labels are not always the best labels. You can be cute and save money don’t be ashamed.

Hispanic Heritage Month is Here!

Another Year of Celebrating

       The students of Osborne will perform on October in the Martha Bigham for the Hispanic Heritage. This year we hope to see all these different types of dances like: Cumbia, Norteña, Duranguense, Bachata, Salsa, and Merengue, etc…So that the students performing can show the rest of the other students that are not performing and that are not Latino, our culture. We hope that this will be the most talkative event that will happen in our school. Tryouts were on September 1, 2009. Every student that will perform will have to meet in Mrs. Grass, a Spanish teacher at OHS, classroom after school. Students are required to have good grades in order to perform and must attend Osborne High School.

 Last years Hispanic Heritage Celebration was great! Everyone enjoyed the program. There were a lot of different dances that people didn’t know about that were shown. This year there will be many people signing up for the program. There will only be certain dances that will be able to perform at the program. Everyone that wants to perform must have a dance that is appropriate for the school. People have decided to practice more because of some accidents that occurred in the 2008 program. Yuleni Romero, a sophmore at OHS, stated, “I would like to see more unique steps, then the ones already shown before.” Many other students have mentioned the same thing, although few students try out.

       Stage fright is usually the cause of why less and less students participate. The confidence they gain before starting their performance which helps them out a lot during the show. Some are afraid that they might mess up because the dance that their friends chose to do isn’t one that their really good at. At times when one student finds a dance that they would like to do others aren’t familiar with it, which causes them to loose track of time showing them step by step the whole routine.

       Therefore, this year’s show will have high expectations.

Make Them Beats!

       We are recruiting you to be on the Drum line to work on cadences and enjoy the experience. Are you in a situation that you just have to beat on something or even need to be in a group or activity? Come join the Drum line because we need you. Our Red Storm is recruiting you to be on the Drum line. We need snare drummer’s tenors and quads the multiple drum connected. If you are wondering why I say this it is because the lack of people on the drum line and mainly the lack of snares.

       To be a good asset to the Drum line you must have fast hands. I do not mean you can fight well, I mean you can play a straight beat fast. We also ask that you show up in the band room at 3:45 pm in black shorts or jogging pants and a white shirt (designs are allowed if school appropriate). We do go outside in the sun from time to time but the Drum majors and band managers bring us water. The most important thing to have is rhythm because without it you would be completely lost during our cadences. The last assets are to have stamina and endurance.

       Cadences are rhythms played by the Drum line. That is what the Drum line works on. This is where you and having fast wrists come in. The cadences require some skill and technique, which if unprepared for it can be really challenging. What we do is entertain. That’s our job. All the cadences that everybody dances to during pep rallies and the shows we do for the Middle Schools and High School takes a lot of energy, but is really fun once you got them down pack. Then you can have some pride in what we do because it is not easy but always fun.

        This is a must do experience because there is nothing like it any where else. You make friends in the people that you would never talk to in your life.  So do not even make assumptions about them because it is not true. We have the most fun just practicing with the band. Now after during sectionals that is when a party happens while we are working on cadences. Remember practice does not make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. Ask any member on the Drum line, we are a real family.

        So if you want to make them beats all you have to do is show up in white and black. Come prepared to work. Also dedicate your self to the drum line because it is not a game. Just to make sure you know you also dedicate yourself to the band as well. Do not miss out on the fun and join today.

Cell Phone Tower on Campus: Good or Bad?

      Will the cell phone tower become a problem on campus or will it be something that administration can keep under control? With a cell tower being built on campus how will the cell phones signal increase or even stay the same? I like the idea of this but I will not agree with teachers complaining about us when they come to see that more and more phones are being used. Will the money the school gets for the tower help out with school funding? Is there something in store for OHS that Dr. Miletto has planned?

      Dr. Steven Miletto, the principal of OHS, stated that the tower will be placed behind the weight room through the rip in the gate. Miletto also that it pays the school and that it will not put the school under construction that is too noticeable. Miletto has no control over when the tower is built. He has in formed me that a baby monitor gives off more radiation than a cell tower does and that there are flyers in the office for further information. In actual fact Miletto trust his students with this tower and that the problem with cell phones will not get any worse then it is and that there are ways to prevent cell phone usage but he does not want to spend the schools money on it.

       I do not really care if we have the tower or not but do you think the teachers agree with it? The main thing is that the students need realize that this is not an opportunity to text during class. I’m not trading sides or anything but that vibration noise can get really irritating. I really think trust us. “Not all the students break the rule, but they occasionally get a little curios and text from time to time,” Miletto said.

New Moves

Jerkin’

       Has the students of Osborne learned some new moves out of nowhere? Jerkin is a new dance that the teens are doing and teaching their friends how to. It all got out from one song by the New Boyz “you’re a jerk.” Spontaneously everybody one by one has been learning the dance.  All I do is have one question?

       How new is the dance actually? In actual fact it is not as new and has been done many of times for about two years now. Besides there are plenty more songs than just “you’re a jerk”. The way you jerk is staring to change as well. Other schools have been doing this dance since last year. Jerkin is not a new dance!

       It may look easy but the process of jerkin is a little hard to grasp. The basic movements are skipping and then reverse it. So basically skipping backwards is the motion. Then there is a part when you drop or dip and then bounce back up with your foot out or something creative. Than finally there is a leg thing when you sort of bend your knees and together and apart in one rhythm.

       To sum it all up there is a new dance that just began at Osborne. For all we know is that it is not new it is old. Then how to jerk which is a little confusing considering who teaches you. This brings us to a conclusion about the history of jerkin.
