An Interview with Douglas Ward
by Mariah Nuckles
Douglas Ward is the new Assistant Principal and Administer here at Osborne High School
A native of Brooklyn
What droved Ward to want come to OHS was the desire for a new atmosphere. He wanted to come to a traditional high school and OHS was the place he felt he might feel more at home. “OHS has all of the experiences I needed of a traditional high school with athletics, different grade levels, and different curriculum,” commented Ward. As a once troubled teen, Ward has great advice for current troubled teens that he wishes to share with OHS students of similar backgrounds. “The road your going is not going to lead you to a good place and you’re not going to get anywhere in this world without an education, PERIOD! You need to really enjoy this time because it goes so quick. Have fun, 18 through 25 are the best years of your life, you get to have the most fun, enjoy it and kick it without any stress.”
With a degree is in Special Education and a Master’s degree is in Education Leadership and Administration, Ward went to college at Central State University, and hopes to, “…show the type of person I am before you judge me, and I’ll guarantee that we’ll have a good school year.” What we students at OHS are expecting from Ward is fairness. In the month and a half we have been at school, he has showed this. We ask that he will continue to show fairness and be willing to understand our situation before judgments are made as well. We OHS student would like to thank Douglas Ward for choosing Osborne and we look forward to continuous years with you.
