Thanksgiving Break Work

Thanksgiving break is finally here.  It starts November 23 and ends on November 27, 2009.  Please do not sleep all during the break:)  Use this time to have fun and catch up on any missing assignments. A progress report went home with all students today.  ALL MAKE UP WORK IS DUE ON FRIDAY DECEMBER 4, 2009.

Welcome to Unit 3 Geometry Gallery

Unit 3 Geometry Gallery goes into the properties of convex polygons and how are they proven.  Our first Lesson is entitled Prove Me Right.  In this lesson students need to be able to prove that triangles are congruent using theorems and postulates.

We must start at the basics.

Help Available for Failing Students

There is a report card coming out on November 9, 2009, however, the final report card for first semester finalizes on December 18, 2009 and will be distributed on January 8, 2010. We may think we have some time until December 18 but it is only 27 school days away. Our students have yet to grasp the gravity of the situation. There are students who are failing and while I am in the process of sending home letters and calling the parents of those students, I have not yet gotten in touch with everyone. I am sending this email to let you know that if you do not know your child's grade please email me or check pinnacle.

For those students who are failing I have set up assignments on an online tutorial program entitled PLATO to assist students in learning and re-learning those concepts which he/she may not have gotten in class. By completing the assignments your student should be able to re-take any failed test and quiz and pass my class. The deadline for these assignments is Friday, December 4, 2009 without fail. Students may also go to tutoring at our ASAP After-School Assistance Program. I have attached login information below. The website is http://ple.platoweb.com. MATH DOLLAR PROGRAM

Dear Parents,

 

There are several things that I try to do to help motivate my students.  One such program is the Math Dollar Program.  The Math Dollar Program is a positive recognition program in which the student receives math dollars for class participation and good behavior.  Math dollars may be redeemed as a homework pass (15 math bucks) at any time.  Math dollars are also redeemable every 6 weeks for prizes such as snacks, candy, school supplies and others to be decided upon.  No student who has been written up by the teacher (or substitute) may participate in the Math Dollar Program for that 6 week period.   He/she may try for the next 6 week period.

 

Our very first Math Dollar Auction will be on next week Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25, 2009 and I need your help.  I asked the students to write down some of the things they'd like to buy with the math dollars and they came up with the following list.  Please help by donating whatever you can.  I will be donating to this program as well.
