Dear Osborne Music Student and Parents,
This Sunday, December 6th, the Osborne Music Department will present the first annual “Christmas Movie Spectacular”. This concert will include performances by the Osborne Chorus, Orchestra and Band that will be accompanied by movie clips from your favorite holiday movies. It promises to be an amazing multi-media event. The concert will take place in the New Gym at Osborne and will begin at 3:00pm. All students performing in the concert need to be at Osborne no later than 2:15pm.
One of the purposes of this concert is to raise money for formal concert attire for the music groups at Osborne. Tickets for the performance will be $2 at the door and all of the money raised will go towards purchasing the uniforms. There will also be drinks and desserts on sell during the concert. We are asking every family of a child performing in the concert to donate a dessert that we can sell at the concert. This dessert can be something purchased at the store (cookies, cake) or something homemade. All of the proceeds from the sell of the sale of these desserts will be used to purchase the concert uniforms. The chorus, orchestra and band desperately need these uniforms; all three groups will use the uniforms for future performance at Osborne and in the community. This is a very important fundraiser and one that we need everyone’s help with in order for it to be successful.
We hope that this concert will be a huge success and start a tradition at Osborne that will continue for many years to come. Please help us get the word out about the concert by inviting friends and family. Not only will having a larger crowd aid us in our fundraising efforts, but it will also add to the performance. Performances are always more rewarding for the students when they are performing for a “full house”. It is especially important that the students’ families are there to support them as they display their talents and all of the hard work they have put into this performance.
This Thursday, December 3rd, after school, we will have a dress rehearsal in the band room for chorus, orchestra and band in order to prepare for the concert. The rehearsal will run from 3:45 – 5:15 and we will use this time to prepare the songs that the three groups will perform together. It is important for the success of the concert that we have as many people as possible at this rehearsal.
We look forward to seeing you this Sunday for this wonderful holiday event.
Musically yours,
Michael Reid Jose Dubon Preston Anderson
Director of Bands Director of Orchestra Director of Choruses
