Please review the attached vocabulary in order to be prepared for your test on 10/2/09.  Additionally, you will present the oral skits as your oral componant to the test.  Finally, if time allows, we will have a notebook check.  Please make sure that all notes are updated- especially the cultural notes.

Bienvenue a Poitiers France

Download PoitiersThis week we will travel to the city of Poitiers France.  We will answer the question: Ou se trouve Poitires et qu'est- ce qu'il y a a voir la- bas?  You will be challanged to write a paragraph in French describing the city as well as orally describe the modern and traditional aspects of the city. Attached find the vocabulary for these activities.  Additionally, we will meet several French students from Poitiers, who will tell about themselves. Finally, please be prepared to present a  2 minute speech on Poitiers on Friday and also be prepared to define all terms and write a 50 word paragraph describing the city.

Field trip to the High Museum of Art/ Louvre works from Paris

We are looking forward to the exciting field trip to the High Museum to experience French art from the Louvre museum in Paris.  Students,  please submit your permission slips by 9/10/09.  The trip is completely free ,  with the exception of the purchase of lunch.  Please order a sac lunch from school , bring a bagged lunch or purchase food in the museum cafateria. Attached please find the works of art that we will view while at the museum.

Test Friday 9/4/09 Numbers, Accents, Alphabet, Essential Questions

Salut!    

Please begin studying for your test this Friday regarding accents, numbers 1-100, alphabet, ans essential questions.  Remember that you will be tested 3 ways: Orally, Written, and Comprehension.  Be prepared to pronounce the alphabet, spell words with accents, identify accents, write numbers, perform  and solve and simple math problems.  Pay paticular attention to numbers 70-100, which can be tricky.

Lesson Plans weekending 9/4/09

Bonjour!

This week we will continue to master numbers ,the French alphabet and accents. We will continue review through various competitions with math problems and spelling games.  Additionally, we will learn come important classroom commands to assist with classroom organization.  On Friday 9/4/09 we will test on alphabet, numbers, accents and commands.  Please remember that we will have 3 tests: Oral, Written and Comprehension.  Please be prepared.  Finally, we will begin Chapter 1 Faisons connaissance.  We  will look at the city of Poitier, France and discuss its attractions.

L'alphabet francais et les chiffres de 0 -20! weekending 8/28/09

This week we will learn the french alphabet as well as accents.  We will learn to spell in French and sing the alphabet song.  Additionally, we will begin to count from 0-20 and play various number games.  You will have 3 handouts for homework which are due on Friday- 8/28.  These sheets are pertaining to numbers, accents and franophone countries.  There will also be a notebook check ,so please have your catagories well defined and well as all of the notes to date.

L'interro demain!( Quiz tomorrow)

Remember that you have a quiz on the French speaking countries as well of the vocabulary regarding greetings, giving and asking name, asking his/her name and tu vs. vous forms.  All study materials are in your notes.  Also, all maps are due by tomorrow.  If you have not organised your folder please do so asap, as we are progressing.

Cahier de francais

Your French notebook is critical to your success in French 1.  Please purchase a 3 ring binder with loose leaf paper.  You will also need dividers to establish the following catagories:1- Le Vocabulaire, 2-La Culture,3- La Grammaire,4- Le Devoir,5- Les Feuilles d'exercises et travailles, 6-Les Cartes, 7-les Questions Essentialles, 8-Ecoutons, 9-le Projets, 10-other.  There will be frequent notebook checks to ensure that your notebook is up to date.  Remember- your French notebook is your most important tool in becoming sucessful in French.  It will also follow you to French 2.
